DIY Car Seat Cooler with FREE Pattern

I am not sure what we would do in the Arizona summers without the kid's car seat coolers! There would probably be a lot more whining and complaining when we got into the car. Instead they ooh and ahh over their nice cold car seats! I used to sell the pattern for these in my Etsy Shop, but I decided to post it here to share with all of you! It takes just a few supplies, basic sewing skills, and a sewing machine.

If you are not sure what I am talking about... a cold seat is a car seat sized fabric seat that has six small pouches for ice packs. They fit into infant and toddler carseats. You keep the seat cold in the freezer and then grab it before heading out. You place it in the baby or child's car seat while you are shopping or running errands. When you come back to the car they won't have to worry about burning their little legs on the metal buckles or sweating in their seats while the car cools down. You remove the seat before placing the child into their carseat.
I like to keep the ice packs in the pouches, unless I need to wash the seats. I just roll them up and toss them in our freezer. It also helps that we have an extra freezer in our garage, because they do take up a significant amount of space. Especially having three of them now!

If you would like to make your own you can download the pattern and directions for FREE below! The pattern has 4 pages of files to download and print out that you can tape together to create the correct shape and size for the seat. You can also follow the link below to a downloadable page of full directions.

Supplies:
- 1 1/2 yards of fabric (1 yard for the main portion of the car seat cooler, and 1/2 yard for the pockets) Use different fabrics to make it more interesting. I usually make the pockets different from the main portion of the car seat cooler.
- Thread to match your fabric
- 30 inch Velcro
- 6 ice packs (You can find the correct size at grocery stores or find them HERE.)
